White Chocolate Peppermint Hot Chocolate

‘Tis the season to have a steaming and delicious cup of Hot Chocolate! Let me tell you, I am enamored by this thick and creamy, cooling peppermint, warm white chocolate drink. 🤤

Drum roll please!!! —This took me 15 minutes to make and was a one-batch-wonder! It’s an easy, cozy, but refreshing drink that took me to Santa Land with elves and everythin in a heartbeat.

White Chocolate Peppermint Hot Chocolate

The name itself is to die for. I’d be ok bathing in it, honestly. Is that too much? I don’t know, or maybe you haven’t had one with a peppermint rim either. 🤷‍♀️

Every year, usually around the end of October when the summer is finally relaxing, we get some cooler weather. At this time, I have at least one kid bribing me to make some hot chocolate. I’m a sucker for what they want, so I cave every time and fire up the stovetop. These kids have me wrapped around their fingertips 😆. HA! Well, jokes on them today. I made White Chocolate Peppermint Hot Chocolate, without consent, without agreements, without discussions, and without a soul around me. That’s right. Just me and my White Chocolate today 💝. It was a dreamy moment (cue the hammock and sunglasses) ahhhhh.

How to make it.

Get your supplies out. You’ll need a small saucepan/pot and a whisk. Milk, white chocolate, candy canes, star anise, cinnamon sticks, vanilla and peppermint extract as well.

On medium heat, warm up the milk, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Don’t let it boil, but just a simmer.

Once you have steeped the milk with the star and stick, add a broken candy cane. It should be quite warm, almost hot, where you can then add the white chocolate and let the candy cane and chocolate melt.

Turn the heat off and let cool for a couple of minutes. Add a dab (1/4th)teaspoon of vanilla and (1/4th)teaspoon of peppermint extract. Let cool completely while making your peppermint rim.

Making the Peppermint Rim

For the rim, grab 2 shallow plates. One will have the agave swirled on it and the other will have small small crushed peppermints ( I LOVE THESE PEPPERMINTS 🙀).

Dip the rim of the cup in the agave, and swirl it around. Then, swirl it around in the broken and crushed peppermints. (Hint: the tiny crumbles on the rim are to die for, not so many of the large pieces, easier to drink)

Then grab a funnel and pour the milk into the cup. I use a funnel because I don’t trust myself pouring directly past my beautiful rim and nailing it straight into the cup. I know what I’m capable of.

Doll it up with some whipping cream and some more crushed peppermint. Even a candy cane spoon to stir it all together. I like to sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger on top as well. Make it your own and just go for it!
Get jiggy with it y’all!

Easy White Chocolate Peppermint Hot Chocolate

This drink is a dream come true. It’s that moment when you have a great warm cozy drink and just stay still for a moment. Those, are some of the BEST moments of the season.

Don’t be shy with the peppermint. All of it is worth it!

Live your best life this Christmas!

Love y’all and stay safe!

Ingredients

  • 24 oz. (3 cups) milk of your choice

  • 3 star anise

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 2 ounces white chocolate chips (or vanilla almond bark), chopped

  • 1 candy cane

  • 1/4th tsp vanilla extract (optional if you use the vanilla bark)

  • 1/4th tsp peppermint extract

  • 3 tbsp agave

  • Crushed peppermints or candy canes

Directions

  • Get out all your ingredients on your workplace.
  • Pour milk, star anise, and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in white chocolate and broken candy cane until they disappear.
  • Get out 2 plates, pour agave on one plate in a circular motion (this is to make our rim). Then crush more peppermint and put on the other plate. Grab your mug and turn it over on the agave and give it a swirl. Do the same with the crushed peppermint. (Hint: finely crushed peppermint is the best texture on the rim)
  • Get a funnel and pour the milk mix in the mug being careful of the rim.
  • Doll up with more crushed peppermint, candy canes, whipped cream, ginger, or chocolate shavings! The world is yours! (And share with a friend 😘)
