Vanilla Pomegranate Drink
Nothing says it’s the Holidays more than some good mixed drinks. Exciting, distracting, and simply delicious! This Vanilla Pomegranate Vodka drink brings together refreshing, tart, and sweet.
Jump to RecipeI remember a time when my Mom did not drink alcohol. Not for any reason outside the fact she was raised Southern Baptist and they don’t drink. Only “alcoholics” drink, yeah ok haha! Well, as we got older (much past 21) I mentioned having some beers available to the guys when we visited. It would be a great “luring” tactic to keep them occupied. She didn’t think it was a bad idea, and started keeping beers on hand. … that’s when it all started.
Now, just about every time we get together we enjoy a drink. It’s like seeing a girlfriend and screeching “MARGARITA’S!!!” at each other. We have a lot of fun together. I love Grandma.
Hey, did I ever tell you about that time in California?
Oh boy! A Grandma story! So, I was invited by a good friend of mine (beautiful Tiffany Sainton) to beautiful Belle Loreve in Ojai, California. The view was breathtaking. We were on a Plato surrounded by peaks and valleys of desert and trees and everything in between. This Plato was so amazing you needed to pinch yourself to see if it was real. But, it’s not for the faint of heart. Take too big of a step and you may be tumbling down to Neverneverland (you really can’t see to the bottom kind-of-scenery).
At the time I had John and Makena. John was 2 and Makena was an infant. My husband at the time could not go (he was just starting a business) so I decided to take my Mom, their Grandma, with me for help. The idea was to have her assistance in a foreign place while little kids, clearly, are unpredictable.
Well, Grandma goes with me. We ALWAYS have a great time wherever we are, but there was one thing. We got to this venue in the middle of nowhere California, barely with any reception to my Blackberry at the time, and Mom is blown away with it all. She meets people her age—from her city (so not very ironic🙄)—great drinks, a dance floor, pretty dresses, pretty people, and grandkids? Let’s just say Grandkids was the last thing on her mind after she saw what she had just walked into. This “Southern Baptist” needed a long prayer after this tie-on.
Let’s just say, she had the time of her life.
Me? I was running so hard to keep up with toddlers (John counts as 2) that I was sweating. I mean SWEATING. Sweating so much the purple and brown strapless dress was falling from the buckets of sweat I was producing and sweat stains in every place it could pick up. Honestly, everything was falling apart!! My Mother, my toddlers, my dress, and quite frankly…my attitude.
At that point I decided to pack this crazy-train up, and tell them “we are going home right now!” I peeled my Mother away from all the 50 something-year-olds whom she was entertaining and realized, “oh no!” She was drinking all the drinks I was trying to drink for myself and forgot about (because I was making sure no one fell down cliffs). She was drinking mine and hers all afternoon!!
So now I have 3 kids: Mother, John, and Makena. Mother got ranked ahead of John “the toddlers” needing-to-be-watched people, 110%. Well, we had to get back to the hotel. My dress wasn’t going to hold on much longer.
So I round up all 3 of them and made them march all the way back to the car. HA! Not so easy. This lady (Grandma that is) goes whatever direction the wind is blowing so I tell her to head up these VERY steep steps that lead to the parking lot. She’s ahead of me, I have each baby on a hip, and boobs galore.
Grandma takes two steps up, and 3 back down. 4 up and 2 back down again. So instincts set in and I jam my forehead between her shoulder blades and hold her balance and take the trajectory of her gait by the sweaty brows on my face —all the way up those wretched steep steps. I’m pretty sure these stairs could have been Mount Taishan for all I knew. But, luckily, she made it, we made it, and my dress didn’t completely hit the ground.
Got all of them in the car to which Grandma slept the whole way back to the hotel and put everyone to bed. This must have been payback, for sure.
The trip was actually quite fun despite the sweat happening in every place possible 😓. Breathtaking scenery is my jam!! No matter what’s happening, there’s always someone to laugh at. And now, I have material to take to the Thanksgiving table EVERY YEAR!! Thanks Mom!! 😂
Keep the recipe and PIN on your board! Never lose it 😉

Holidays are for drinks
Personally, this is a great time to relax and have a refreshingly tart and sweet alcoholic beverage. Although great without Vodka, it can be used for entertaining or simply enjoying at home. You can even steal your neighbors. No take-backs. Yeah, just ask Grandma.
Let’s make some Vanilla Pomegranate drink!
This recipe is super simple. You can simply put all the ingredients in a pitcher (preferably right before guests arrive), stir it up, sugar salt the rim and fill them up!
Keep in mind the tonic water will die down and try to coagulate the milk so doing it in the moment is better.
Brands I love!
🎶 Here are a few of my fav-or-ite things 🎶 When the tonic bites, when the tart stings, when I’m feeling sad…I simply remember my favorite drinks, and then I don’t feeeeelll sooooo bad!! 😂 (and then a bow)
- Belvedere Vodka
- Real Pomegranate Juice
- (if I don’t have time to make a simple syrup) Torani Syrup
- Real Maple syrup – so you know it’ll be nice and sticky
- Regular (not flavored) Tonic Water
- Organic Almond Milk (can sub Cream)
Till next time!
Love y’all! Have any fun story’s?
