Air Fryer Truffled Buffalo Chicken Hot Wings

This post: How to make AirFryer Truffled Buffalo Chicken Hot Wings (oven instructions included)

Holy hot wings, Batman. Ok these AirFryer Truffled Buffalo Chicken Hot Wings are all things great and good in this world. If you like that distinct, boost of truffle taste, this is your new crack for the Foodball season…I mean Football. Cause, it’s about Football…not the food (I’m lying, 100%lying. I don’t even know who is playing).

I was amazed I could get these from package to face in about 35 minutes. With minimal prep work, these are best in the Air Fryer. Yet, if your like us and feeding a crowd every night you need more than just 6 wings to suffice. Now, we could go and make the whole Truffled Buffalo Wing Hot Sauce, but there are so many out there that are really good, why not? More than likely your making many other things than just wings so lets make this simple. Buy your favorite wing sauce and add Truffle powder (like this)!

We Want Crunchy-Crisp Truffled Buffalo Wings!

I take my chicken wings seriously (as anyone should). I want a crispy wing, but I don’t want to fry it. I want thin skin but I don’t know how? No worries, the solution is…dun, dun, duuuuuhh!!…the air-fryer. Honestly, the oven works well too…have no worries, I’ll show you the tricks! But first, let’s get these wings ready.

Prep your Chicken Wings

Get your equipment out on your workbench including 2 mixing bowls (or 2 ziplock bags), papertowels, fork, and one small bowl.

Using papertowels, wipe off each wing and/or drum and place them in a large ziplock bag like below👇

Then, in a small bowl, place any type of cajun seasoning (I like this one) and oil together. Stir well with a fork.

This is my homemade cajun seasoning, but use any kind!

You can shake more Truffle powder on them as well, if your a fan of the Truffle.

Pour oil mix into bag and shake and stir to completly cover them like 👇 this. Wings should be room temperature by this point.

Time to cook! AirFryer or Oven? I have both and cooked both ways, equally amazing! Although, the oven typically take a bit longer (up to about 10 minutes).

Cooking Wings in the AirFryer

Before placing in the AirFryer, spray the wire rack with Pam. This prevents them from sticking to the rack/basket. (Don’t put sauce on yet!) This is the step that makes them crunchy. We’ll make them saucy later.

Take each wing with some tongs and place carefully in on the rack. Cook at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Depending on how many you have in the AirFryer and how big or small it is, it could take longer.

When they come out, you should see crispy edges and thin skin like 👇.

If you find the skin is still gummy, cook about 5 minutes more. Add 5 more minutes each time until you see thin skin. Careful not to dry them out by over cooking. My AirFryer took 25 minutes exactly for 6 wings but my friends AirFryer (that is smaller) with 6 wings, which seemed smaller took about 35 minutes.

See the bend in the joint and the outside of the wing, that is the type of thin skin you are looking for (below👇).

Cooking Wings in the Oven

Ovens, start your engines. Preheat at 425 degrees and IF you are lucky enough to have the convection setting, use it so that heat is moved around the oven and all around the wing as well.

Then, you will wrap a sheet pan with foil. Grab a rack that fits in it and spray it with Pam. It helps prevent it from sticking.

Lay all wings carefully on the rack making sure none of them are touching.

Cook for 25-35 minutes. After 25 minutes, the skin should still have the crispy ends and thin skin. If not, cook an additional 10 minutes until it is. Just careful, not too long where they are dried out.

Make your sauce while it’s cooking.

Once they are cooked well, toss them in that boss Sauce! (see details below)

Make the Buffalo Truffled Chicken Wings Sauce

This might be the easist part. Just combine the bottled wing sauce with the truffle powder in a bowl. The Truffle powder really elevates the sauce and gives it that “what is that taste?” feel.

Right when you take out your wings they will be piping hot. Grab some tongs and throw a couple in the sauce and flip around. Place them on a plate and your done! Serve up!

I like to use a variety of vegetables with Ranch dressing. It gives that crunch-yum and cools off your mouth. The perfect break to the yummy buffalo sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 Package 1 Chicken Wings (12 wings), dried with a papertowel

  • 2 tbsp 2 cajun seasoning

  • 1/3 cup 1/3 oil

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Truffle Powder

  • 1 12 oz 1 Buffalo Hot Wing Sauce

Directions for air fryer

  • Get all ingredients on your workbench including papertowels, 2 large mixing bowls, 1 small bowl, and your airfryer.
  • Wipe all chicken wings down with the papertowel taking off any liquid on them. If using drums, dry them and keep skin pulled up. Place in one of the large mixing bowls.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the cajun seasoning and oil with a fork. You can add a couple dashes of truffle powder here if you like.
  • Pour cajun oil seasoning over the dried wings. Toss wings and/or drums in the oil covering all of the wing. (you can use a ziplock bag for this as well, and toss/shake)
  • Place wings in airfryer (on a rack if it comes with it) making sure no wings are touching each other (probably up to 6 at a time). AIRFRY in Airfyer at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Some need longer but we are looking for the wing to have crispy edges and skin to be thin.

  • While waiting for the wings, put the buffalo sauce in the other large mixing bowl and mix in truffle powder.
  • When wings/drums are done, take out and let cool just a bit and put in the next batch. While hot, toss the wings in the buffalo sauce mix. Place on a plate and enjoy immediately.
  • DIRECTIONS FOR OVEN USE
  • Get all ingredients on your workbench including papertowels, 2 large mixing bowls, 1 small bowl, and a sheet pan and rack (rack is necessary). Preheat your oven to 425 degrees in the convection setting if you have it. Otherwise, BAKE does well.
  • With the sheet pan, add foil to the bottom and put the rack inside of it. Spray the rack with Pam to prevent from sticking. Lay each wing or drum down making sure they don’t touch each other.
  • Bake (and use convection if your oven does it) at 425 for 20-25 minutes until edges are crispy and skin is thin.
  • Take out and toss immediately in Truffled Sauce and serve immediatly
