This is the perfect balance of fresh, sweet, fragrant, and tart…it may send your mouth into sensory overload. When I thought of this recipe I doubted it. Let me tell you, no doubt no-more! This citrus salad will take you away!
With Texas’ continued Winter wonderland, Fall foods are trying to work their way out and fresh is coming in. Although, here, our Winter is now. But, but, but…I’m really ready for something fresh! Well, tough titties. Luckily we can find some seasonal fruit, but it’s quite thin this time of year. But I’m still going to get fresh with it!

So, you can have this citrus salad anytime of day but honestly, I find it to be the best thing to eat before or after a workout. It fills you up and gives you that natural sugar your body is craving.
I even saved a bit in my new snapware and had it for breakfast the next day. Because of the glass closure design, the fruit was perfectly cold and nothing had gone bad (and thank you to the Lemon squeeze). The apples were still crisp and no signs of browning. The juices from the pineapple had married with the basil to give a perfectly sweet and fragrant combination. You know what this means? It’s good for lunches the next day too!
It’s also a perfect healthy after-school snack. The kids are able to get that second wind with some hearty fiber and nutrients from the fruit while also getting some healthy sugar. Win-win!
Seasonal Fruit
Although in Texas not much will be in season, if anything…well unless this time of year would be grown in a greenhouse. Texas can produce fruit well like peaches and pears, but mostly vegetables in that 10-month-Summer we get every year. This is really our Winter right now until the end of February/beginning of March.
So the grocery store it is, ugh 😩 . The best to buy this time of year I would say, are grapefruits, lemons, pomegranates, and pineapple. The pineapple will be small, but decently ripe, everything else will be found easily (probably grown in Mexico). Herbs are so awesome and can be grown anywhere as long as they are doted over and protected. I personally keep those in my greenhouse and keep them going year around.
Easy, clean, fresh citrus salad
With no additive sugars and being all natural forms of sugar, this citrus salad is perfect for anytime of day.
I love to be able to just open the refrigerator and be able to grab this and go. Making our life easier is for me! It is so easy, clean eating, and delicious citrus salad.
